Irrigation Ordinance

Sprinkler watering a lawn

The Village of Golf, at the direction of the South Florida Water Management District, has specific rules that govern when landscaping and lawns may be irrigated.  The year-round rules apply to every home and business in the Village.  They apply to the Country Club of Florida regarding landscaping, but not for the golf course.

General Rules

While there are exceptions, generally the rules for when you may irrigate your landscaping are as follows:

  • No irrigation is allowed between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
  • Even numbered addresses may only irrigate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and/or Sundays.
  • Odd numbered addresses may only irrigate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Saturdays.
  • You will notice that there is no irrigation allowed on Fridays.

All new irrigation systems are required to have sensors that prevent watering when there is already sufficient moisture.

Violations

Repeated violations of the Year-round Landscape Irrigation Conservation Ordinance within a one-year period could result in monetary fines.

  • 1st violation:  Verbal warning
  • 2nd violation:  Written warning
  • 3rd violation:  $25
  • 4th violation:  $50
  • Subsequent violations:  Previous violation plus $50

Hand watering is allowed

You are allowed to water your landscaping by hand outside of the restricted times. Hand watering means watering by one person, with one hose, fitted with a self-canceling or automatic shutoff nozzle.

Exceptions

There are exceptions for newly-planted landscaping, repair and maintenance of irrigation systems, newly-applied fertilizer, and low-volume watering such as hand watering. Click HERE for more exception details.
